Insurance, Billing & Referrals

Our office currently participates in more than 95% of the insurance plans in South Texas, with periodic plan updates. Click here for the complete list of currently accepted insurance companies. If you do not find your individual insurance carrier, please call our office manager, Ms. Danelle Zuniga at 210-341-2202. Many health insurance companies often change names. Please inform us if we are currently not a provider with your insurance company.

The office participates with most major insurance carriers in South Texas and will work with your primary care physician’s office to obtain appropriate referral authorization(s) if necessary. However, it is the individual patient’s responsibility to insure that proper pre-authorization is achieved prior to your office visit. If you have an HMO, PPO, or related insurance plan, and are unsure if pre-authorization is necessary, contact your individual insurance carrier and/or your primary care physician’s office, prior to your office visit.

Once you have determined our office participates with your individual or group health insurance plan, please call the office for a new patient appointment. As a convenience to our prospective new patients, you may download a Patient Information form by clicking here {provide link}. This will help facilitate the registration process when you arrive for your appointment. Please have your insurance card with you and a pictured ID-preferably, a driver’s license.

DO NOT use the ‘Contact Us’ form/link for registration as a new patient. You must call the office personally to make any appointment(s) with Dr. Tompkins!

If you would like our office to file for insurance benefits, provide us with a copy of your current insurance card/information at or before your appointment.

Please be prepared to pay deductibles and/or co-payments at the time of your visit. We accept Medicare assignments and are flexible with "out-of-network" participants.

For your convenience, we accept personal checks, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. If necessary, a flexible payment plan can also be arranged with prior notice.

Call the office at 210-341-2202, and ask for our office manager, Danelle Zuniga, for any information regarding insurance and/or billing. If she is not available to speak with you immediately, we will take your name and number and Ms. Zuniga will contact you in a timely manner.
