Foot pain and ailments are among the most common of our health problems, yet are often the direct result of a lifetime of abuse and neglect. Many serious foot problems can be cured or at least managed, but they often go untreated because people mistakenly believe that discomfort and pain are normal. Dr. Tompkins has over 14 years experience in treating common foot problems.

Dr. Tompkins has an extensive background and experience in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). He has previously served as Vice President of ACFAS, Division XII, in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Tompkins specializes in sports related injuries, and preventative biomechanics. He is currently a team physician for Incarnate Word University and Churchill High School . In addition, he has worked extensively with area high school, college, and professional athletes.  Dr. Tompkins incorporates numerous preventative treatment regimens, and rigorous training programs in working with area athletes to keep them active.

  • The average person takes approximately 8-10,000 steps/day and will walk almost 115,000 miles in his/her lifetime. This is equivalent to about 4 ½ times around the earth.
  • 75% of Americans will experience foot problems at some time in their lives. Incidence varies with age. Almost 50% of people over the age of 50, and approximately 35% between the ages of 18-24.
  • About 19 percent of the US population has an average of 1.4 foot problems each year. This is based on statistics from the American Podiatric Medical Association
  • Women are four times more likely to experience foot problems than men.
